Publication Ethics

Arden Jaya Publisher establishes that all journal institutions published must follow the applicable ethical code. As is generally known, the scientific ethical code is a statement of ethics that applies to all parties involved in the journal publication process, including the managers, editors, reviewers, and authors. Therefore, this foundation establishes that the statement of the scientific publication ethics code must be based on the Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Scientific Publication Ethics Code, which essentially upholds three ethical values in publication, namely: (1) Neutrality, which means free from conflicts of interest in the publication management; (2) Fairness, which means giving the rights of authors to those who deserve to be recognized as authors; and (3) Honesty, which means free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in journal publications.

Journal Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Determine the journal's name, scope of knowledge, periodicity, and accreditation if required.
  2. Define the membership of the editorial board.
  3. Define the relationships between the publisher, editor, reviewers, and other parties in a contract.
  4. Respect confidential matters, including for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
  5. Apply norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyrights.
  6. Review journal policies and communicate them to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.
  7. Create guidelines for behavior codes for editors and reviewers.
  8. Publish the journal regularly.
  9. Ensure the availability of funding sources for the continuity of the journal’s publication.
  10. Build cooperative networks and marketing.
  11. Prepare licensing and other legal aspects.

Editor Responsibilities:

  1. Match the needs of readers and authors.
  2. Strive for continuous improvement in publication quality.
  3. Apply processes to ensure the quality of published works.
  4. Prioritize objective freedom of expression.
  5. Maintain the integrity of authors' academic records.
  6. Provide corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies if necessary.
  7. Be responsible for the style and format of written works, while the content and statements in the manuscript remain the responsibility of the authors.
  8. Actively seek feedback from authors, readers, reviewers, and editorial board members to improve publication quality.
  9. Encourage evaluation of the journal if there are findings.
  10. Support initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by requiring authors to submit an Ethical Clearance form approved by the Ethical Clearance Commission.
  11. Support initiatives to educate researchers on publication ethics.
  12. Review the effects of publication policies on authors and reviewers' attitudes and improve them to enhance responsibility and reduce errors.
  13. Keep an open mind to new opinions or views that may conflict with personal opinions.
  14. Not defend personal opinions, authors, or third parties that could lead to biased decisions.
  15. Encourage authors to make necessary improvements to the manuscript before it is ready for publication.

Reviewer Responsibilities:

  1. Receive assignments from editors to review manuscripts and provide review results to editors as a basis for determining the suitability of a manuscript for publication.
  2. Reviewers should not review manuscripts involving themselves, either directly or indirectly.
  3. Maintain the privacy of the author by not disseminating correction results, suggestions, and recommendations, providing constructive feedback.
  4. Encourage authors to make improvements to the manuscript.
  5. Review revised manuscripts in accordance with established standards.
  6. Manuscripts should be reviewed in a timely manner following the publication style guide based on scientific principles (data collection methods, authorship legality, conclusions, etc.).

Author Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that individuals listed as authors meet the criteria for authorship.
  2. Be collectively responsible for the work and content of the article, including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
  3. Disclose the sources of resources (including funding), both directly and indirectly.
  4. Explain the limitations in the research.
  5. Respond to reviewer comments professionally and promptly.
  6. Inform the editor if they wish to withdraw their manuscript.
  7. Declare that the manuscript submitted for publication is original, has not been published elsewhere in any language, and is not under consideration by other publishers.
